Flavonoid is a subtance that has peculiar property as an analgetic. One of the plants that contain flavonoid is sweet starfruiit leaf (Averrhoa carambola L). the research was for understanding analgetic effect, analgetic power, dosage that emerging analgetic effect and comparing analgetic effect of sweet starfruit leaf with parasetamol.
This analgetic effect research used wriggle method with chemical stimulating in the form of 0,5% acetate acid which is given intra peritoneally. The research used 35 DDI groove female white mice that attain the age of 8-12 weeks and have weight about 20-30 gram. The mice are divided in 5 groups at random. Each group is 7 mice. First group as a negative control group is given aquadest. Second group as apositive control group is given parasetamol which the dosage is 65 mg/kg per weight. The third, fourth and fifth are given sweet starfruit leaf extract ethanol at the level 3% b/v, 6% b/v, 12% b/v which is equal to each dosage 0,75 g/kg per weight; 1,50 g/kg per weight; 3,00 g/kg per weight orally. After the treatment is given, the experiment animal is kept quiet about 5 minutes, then it is injected 0,5% acetate acid which the dosage is 50% mg/kg per weight intra peritoneally. After that, it is made a note of amount of wriggle cumulative every 5 minutes during 60 minutes. The data that is obtained from the research is amount of wriggle during 60 minutes which is continued to the calculation of protection percentage using Handershot-Forsaith method, then to be calculated statistically with Analisis Varian (ANAVA) and to be continued with “t” test which has 95% standard of belief. The research result shown that sweet starfruit leaf ethanol extract has analgetic effect. From the research, the dosage of sweet starfruit leaf ethanol extract that gave analgetic effect is 1,50 g/kg per weight and 3,00 g/kg per weight. The result that obtained protection percentage of third, fourth and fifth groups are 53,24%; 71,32%; and 94,08%. Protection percentage which is smaller than parasetamol is sweet starfruit leaf ethanol extract which the dosage is 0,75 g/kg per weight, while the protection percentage which is bigger than parasetamol is sweet starfruit leaf ethanol extract which the dosage are 1,50 g/kg per weight and 3,00 g/kg per weight
