EFFECTS TEST LEAVES MELATI infusa antipyretic (Jasminum sambac (L.) Ait W.) ON WHITE MALE RATS Wistar

Background of this research is to development of traditional drug which these days get special attention of government. Besides to develop traditional drug able to be exploited is leaf melati as drug of antipyretic. A research about decoction leaf and jasmine flowers (Jasminum sambac (L.) W. Ait) with concentration 5% b/v have antipyretic effect on male mices (Wahyuono, dkk., 1981).

This research was aimed to know the antipyretic effect, how much the dose which caused antipyretic effect, and how the antipyretic potency of infuse jasmine leaf compared with paracetamol on male white rats strain Wistar.

Animal research used male white rats strain Wistar by weight 150-200 gram, age was 2-3 months with sum 30 tails, which were derived in to six groups randomly, each groups consist of 5 rats. The first groups was used as an negative control given by aquadest 2 ml/100 g BW; 12,60 mg/200 g BW, paracetamol solution was used as an positive control in second groups. Where as the 3r d , 4th , 5t h , and 6t h group was given by infuse jasmine leaf with concentration 1,25% b/v, 2,5% b/v, 5% b/v, and 10% b/v, each equal with 0,25 g/kg BW, 0,5 g/kg BW, 1,0 g/kg BW, and 2,0 g/kg BW. Infrared thermometer was used to measure rats temperature between the two side legs of rats. Before the experiment, the first temperature of between the each side was measured. DPT (Difteri Pertusis and Tetanus) vaccine 0,4 ml by subcutan injection were given to the fever of rats. One hours and half latter, each group was given the treatment by infuse jasmine leaf in various concentration. The measurement of temperature rats body was conduted in every 15 minutes during 240 minutes. The temperature obtained from each group was made the curve of relationship between the time and the temperature. Then AUC (Area Under the Curve) of each group was counted and the result of AUC (Area Under the Curve) then statistically analized by Kolmogorof -Smirnov for normality test and Levene test for homogenety then was tested statistic analized one-way (ANOVA) with confidence 95% and then was tested t Tukey with confidence 95%.

The result of the research showed that infuse of jasmine leaf had antipyretic effect. The antypiretic effect of infuse jasmine leaf in variaous doses are more effective than paracetamol.
