The essential oil of flower of clove was isolated using water and steam destilation method. The qualitative analysis of the essential oil conducted organoleptically, including its smell, taste and color, as well as refractive index. The essential oil composition was analyzed using GC-MS Shimadzu-QP2010S. The antifungal activity test was done using the liquid dilution method. To determine MIC againts C. albicans had made various concentration of the flower of clove ( Syzygium aromaticum (L) Merr et Perry ) esense oil 0,1 %v/v ; 0,05 %v/v ; 0,025 %v/v ; 0,0125 %v/v ; 0,00625 %v/v and 0,003125 %v/v.
The Minimum Fungicide Concentration (MFC) was determined by scratching the tested solution of the Minimum Inhibiting Concentration (MIC) examination on the Sabouraud Dextrose Agar (SDA). The MIC was indicated by the lowest concentration that still inhibit the fungal growth, where as the minimum fungicidal was indicated by the lowest concentration that still able to kill fungi. The result of this research was indicated that the flower of clove ( Syzygium aromaticum (L) Merr et Perry ) essense oil have antifungal activity againts C. albicans.The MIC can’t identified, but MFC of ( Syzygium aromaticum (L) Merr et Perry ) esense oil value was 0,025 %v/v. The estimation result of chemical component analysis by GC-MS was indicated that ( Syzygium aromaticum (L) Merr et Perry ) esense oil contained of eugenol, trans – caryophyllene, alpha – humulene and eugenol acetate.
